Woman Trips and Falls, Sues Bar

Woman trips and falls, sues barA woman who tripped and fell at a Texas nightclub has filed a personal injury lawsuit against the establishment, in which she claims that poor lighting is to blame for her injuries.

Kathryn Gober was exiting the Star Bar's dance floor in March 2009 when she tripped on an allegedly poorly-lit unmarked bandstand close to the floor, according to the Southeast Texas Record. She claims she landed on her face and knocked out several teeth – according to the personal injury lawsuit, she still suffers from blurred vision as a result of the fall.

According to Gober, the Star Bar was negligent in promoting its dance floor without first making sure it was a safe environment by eliminating any hazards or obstacles, such as the one she allegedly tripped over. She is represented by a personal injury attorney, and seeks damages that would compensate her for medical expenses she allegedly incurred to treat her injuries, as well as for the mental anguish that resulted from it. The personal injury lawsuit also requests exemplary damages against the defendant.

According to the National Institutes of Health, blurred vision can occur after a blow to the head, and may be a symptom of a serious head injury.
