According to WPXI, a 48-year-old woman was killed when the bicycle she was riding was struck by a big rig on Mount Pleasant Road in Hempfield Township on July 29.

Police told the news source that the collision occurred around 11 a.m. when the bicyclist was attempting to turn onto Towne Square Drive.

The woman has been identified as Susan Bell, who, police said, wound up underneath the tractor trailer and was run over by the vehicle.

Investigators said that it appears as if Bell had passed a number of cars on Mount Pleasant Road that had slowed down in order for the truck, which had its turn signals on, to make a wide right turn at the crossroads. Bell reportedly failed to slow down and rode under the truck.

Bell was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

No charges will reportedly be filed against the driver of the 18-wheeler in connection with the deadly crash.

In Lower Saucon Township, a 21-year-old man was ejected from the vehicle he was a passenger in after the car was struck by a tractor trailer on Interstate 78.

The Lehigh Valley Express-Times reports that the early morning accident occurred on July 26 when a car being driven by 21-year-old Thomas Frezza was traveling the wrong way down the highway. The car collided head-on with the big rig in the westbound lanes near Hellertown.

The driver of the truck and Frezza were also injured in the crash.
