Three teens were killed in a New York car crash.Three New York teenagers were killed on Independence Day after a family's SUV flipped on the Garden State Parkway while returning from Atlantic City, according to published reports.

Brothers Chrystoph and Hlimas Iliopoulos, ages 14 and 18, as well as their 15-year-old neighbor Eric Colligan were killed in the accident, which also injured the brothers' parents and 20-year-old sister. Police said the accident occurred at around 5 a.m. when the driver, Dimitrios Iliopoulos, lost control of his Ford Expedition after another vehicle allegedly cut him off near Middleton Township, New Jersey.

Iliopoulos swerved and slammed into a guardrail, causing the vehicle to flip at least twice and hurl five passengers from the backseat onto the highway.

Iliopoulos' wife, Stavroula, and daughter, Fotiny, remain in critical condition at the Jersey Shore University Medical Center. Iliopoulos and his daughter's fiance, Vincent Whiteaker – who was also seated in the front-seat – were also treated for injuries although they are reportedly in stable condition.

There were 583 motor vehicle fatalities in New Jersey in 2009, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, representing a one percent decrease from the year before.
