In Penn Hills, Pennsylvania, an unlicensed 18-year-old driver crashed her car through a fence near the intersection of Mount Carmel and Aber roads on Tuesday, July 12, injuring two girls who were walking by, WPXI reports.

The two girls, ages 11 and 12, were reportedly struck by the sport utility vehicle when it veered off the road at a high speed. The 11-year-old girl was rushed to Children’s hospital after sustaining serious injuries, which investigators say were caused by being dragged underneath the automobile until it came to a stop, the news source stated.

Police told the media outlet that the 12-year-old girl was also injured when the car ran over her foot.

The driver of the SUV will face charges of driving without a license, as well as other citations.

“She said her foot got caught on the accelerator,” Victor Jones, a witness, told the news provider. “She couldn’t stop. She was trying to say it was the car’s fault.”

The 73-year-old man was treated by the Wilmington rescue squad and rushed to Adirondack Medical Center in Lake Placid, New York. Lake Placid Volunteer Fire Department members fashioned a landing zone for a helicopter so that Delmer could be airlifted to Fletcher Allen health Care in Burlington, Vermont, the media outlet stated.
