Semi Crash Injures Driver on Interstate 190 in Massachusetts

The driver of a tractor trailer was hospitalized after the drove off an exit ramp in Massachusetts.The driver of a tractor trailer that was involved in a rollover truck accident on Interstate 190 in Worcester County, Massachusetts, on July 7 remains hospitalized.

The Worcester Telegram and Gazette reports that the crash occurred around 9:30 a.m. when an 18-wheeler that was carrying paper pulp veered off the Route 2 exit ramp of the interstate.

The driver of the truck, 41-year-old Michael Adams of Pennsylvania, was taken to the UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus in Worcester where he was being treated for what was reported to be non-life threatening injuries.

According to the news agency, Adams told police that he could not remember what caused him to drive off the exit ramp.

The accident forced the closure of the Route 2 ramp off I-190 for part of the day while emergency crews cleared the wreckage. Traffic was detoured for several hours during the cleanup. State highway workers will have to replace a portion of the guardrail as a result of the collision.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that 42 people died as the result of motor vehicle accidents in Worcester County, Massachusetts, in 2009.
