Scottsdale Man Identified as Victim of Paradise Valley Car Crash

A former standout college baseball player died in a car crash over the weekend.A former college athlete was tragically killed in a car accident that occurred Saturday, September 10, according to reports.

Reports surfaced early this week that a man in his mid-40s had died in a single-vehicle accident. Police initially declined to reveal the man’s name, according to a report from The Arizona Republic, but they later identified the victim.

Terrence Belle, a resident of Scottsdale, was fatally injured  in a car accident that occurred in Paradise Valley. Belle, who was also operating the vehicle, is said to have veered off the road while driving near 51st Place and Lincoln Drive. The accident took place around 6:30 p.m., according to Paradise Valley police officials. Belle’s exact age was not released.

The Shreveport Times reports Belle was a former standout athlete in Louisiana. He was a high school baseball star in Huntington, Louisiana. He also later played at Louisiana State University, according to the news provider. His brother is the former baseball star Albert Belle.

Police are still investigating the crash, and they reportedly noted that the car was thought to have been moving erratically preceding the accident. Officials initially declined to comment as to whether alcohol played a contributing factor to the incident.

According to police reports, the car Belle was driving swerved off the road, striking a curb. Belle was not the only passenger in the vehicle, according to The Republic. His two children were reportedly riding in the car with Belle.

The ages of the two children have not released, but reports indicate they were taken to Phoenix Children’s Hospital with what were described as minor injuries following the vehicle crash.

Belle lettered in baseball at LSU when he played for the varsity baseball team, according to reports.
