Pennsylvania Man Killed After Motorcycle Crashes Into Pole

A Pennsylvania man was killed after losing control of his bike and slamming into a pole.A Pennsylvania man was killed recently after losing control of his motorcycle and crashing into a utility pole, according to multiple reports.

Jason Duarte, 38, was traveling around a curve on a York County street on his Suzuki GSX-R when police believe he went off the side of the road and collided with the pole. The section of the road he was on drops off about six inches onto a berm, the York Dispatch reports.

Duarte's motorcycle flew about 100 feet after impact. Police said Duarte himself was found about 15 feet away from the utility pole. Authorities are unsure of how long Duarte was there, as local police were only notified after a passer-by noticed debris on the road and called 911.

The victim was reportedly wearing a full-face helmet at the time of the crash. The coroner's office is set to perform a toxicology test to determine if drugs or alcohol contributed to the accident.

Motorcycle fatalities in the U.S. declined slightly between 2009 and 2010, according to the Governors Highway Safety Association. The agency said motorcycle-related deaths dropped by 2.4 percent during the first nine months of 2010.
