One Killed After Four Motorcycles Collide in Texas

One man was killed after four motorcycles crashed in Texas.One man was killed after a late-night Texas crash that caused four different motorcycles to collide, according to KDFW News.

Police said 46-year-old Eric Nelson was riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle northbound on Highway 121 when he was overtaken by a group of 15-20 people on racing-style sports bikes. One of the bikes reportedly collided with Nelson, causing both vehicles to fall and hit two other motorcycles, the news station reports.

Nelson's motorcycle landed on a grassy median. His brother told the news source Nelson experienced only minor injuries and has been released from the hospital.

However, one of the other motorcyclists was fatally injured and succumbed to his injuries after being transported to a nearby hospital. Two other riders also reportedly experienced life-threatening injuries in the collision.

The Texas Department of Safety continues to investigate the incident. The source said it is unclear as to whether anyone will be charged in the accident.

There were 311 motorcycle fatalities in Texas during the first nine months of 2010, according to the Governors Highway Safety Administration, more than any other state during that period.
