Nurse Files Slip-And-Fall Lawsuit, Wants $750,000 in Damages

Nurse files slip-and-fall lawsuitA nurse from Marshall, Texas, recently filed a personal injury lawsuit against her employer, Good Shepherd Medical Center, claiming she slipped and fell in water on the defendant’s premises.

In July of 2010, Brenda Lagrone was a registered nurse employed by the medical center, the Southeast Texas Record reports. The medical center was negligent in allowing water to be present on a walking surface, Lagrone’s personal injury lawsuit claims. She claims she slipped and fell on the water, allegedly fracturing her femur as a result of the fall.

Lagrone is seeking $750,000 in damages, court costs and interest from the defendant. She is represented by a personal injury attorney and has requested a jury trial, the news provider reports.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), there were 3,277,700 non-fatal workplace injuries in the private sector nationwide in 2009. Of these injuries, 212,760 involved falls. The rate of non-fatal workplace injuries nationwide has been falling since 2003, according to the BLS.
