Man Files Personal Injury Suit Against Spa Alleging Second-Degree Burns

Man files personal injury suit against spaA Louisiana man recently filed a personal injury suit against Calder's Mane Event & Day Spa, claiming that the spa was negligent in hiring and training a massage therapist that allegedly burned him with hot rocks.

According to the Southeast Texas Record, Rodney Welch has an appointment with the spa in 2008 for a deep-tissue massage.

The massage therapist assigned to perform the procedure allegedly heated up rocks in the microwave and placed them on Welch's shoulder and upper back area without first laying a protective covering on Welch's skin. Welch's lawsuit claims that the rocks caused second-degree burns which have resulted in permanent scarring. The subsequent keloid reaction that arose from the burns required surgery to correct, the suit claims.

Welch has hired a personal injury attorney to represent him in the lawsuit against the spa's owner, Daisy Johnson. Johnson is claimed to have been negligent in hiring and training the masseuse assigned to Welch's appointment, according to the news source. Welch reportedly seeks actual and exemplary damages of an unspecified amount.
