Jailed Felon Files Medical Malpractice Suit Against Hospital

Jailed felon files medical malpractice suitA convicted felon who has been sentenced to life in prison for being involved in a car accident that killed two girls has filed a medical malpractice lawsuit against the hospital that treated him following the fatal crash.

Jim Howard III was convicted of intoxicated manslaughter and intoxicated assault following a 2009 crash that killed two teenage girls and injured two others, according to the Southeast Texas Record.

After the crash, Howard was taken to Mainland Medical Center in Texas City, Texas, where he was treated for leg and hip injuries. Howard claims, however, that the hospital staff broke his femur bone during the treatment, allegedly permanently injuring him, the news provider reports.

He claims that the original X-rays that were performed on him show no injury to his femur bone. Later X-rays showed the femur break, according to the news source. Howard also claims that hospital staff did not explain to him the procedure of popping his hip and leg back in place, and that a female staff member allegedly climbed on his bed and pulled on his leg, which caused a popping sound.

Howard will reportedly be representing himself in the case.
