Florida Woman Thrown From Car, In Serious ConditionA woman from Palm Bay, Florida, was thrown from her car on Tuesday, July 12, after she crashed into another car in Rockledge during afternoon traffic, Florida Today reports.

According to the news source, the accident involved two vehicles and occurred at about 5:30 p.m. Tara Burgee, 20, was driving her Scion when she struck the rear of a Pontiac, flipping her car onto its side. Burgee was not wearing her seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle.

The driver is being charged with careless driving after Florida State Troopers determined that she had been travelling faster than the Pontiac in front of her in the left lane when the crash happened, the media outlet stated.

Burgee was treated at the scene by Fire-Rescue paramedics from Brevard County, had to be airlifted to Holmes Regional Medical Center for further treatment, and is currently listed in serious condition.

Shelly McCormick of Winter Springs, who was driving the Pontiac, was uninjured in the accident.

According to Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, there were 235,778 traffic crashes in Florida in 2009, resulting in 197,214 reported injuries.
