Crash In Oregon Kills One On Major HighwayA man from Cloverdale, Oregon, was killed in an automobile accident on Highway 6 near Banks, causing the road to close for several hours on Monday, July 11, The Tillamook Headlight Herald reports.

According to the news outlet, Carl Harry Weaver, 63, was driving his 2001 Chevrolet pickup east on the highway when his vehicle crossed the center line and collided head-on with a 1987 Ford Tempo, driven by Kenneth L. Clark, that was traveling westbound. A third vehicle, driven by John P. Reurer, could not stop in time, and struck the wreckage.

Oregon State Troopers told the news source that Clark was dead at the scene, and that Weaver and his 14-year-old passenger were airlifted to Emanuel Medical Center with serious, though non-life threatening injuries. Reuer and his three passengers were unharmed.

Oregon State Police are working with the Washington County District Attorney's Office in a continuing investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash, The Herald reports.

According to the Oregon Department of Transportation, there were 41,271 crashes in the state in 2009, which resulted in 331 fatalities.
