Bus Crash in Pennsylvania Kills One and Injures 13

Joseph Stoy's car crashed into the driver's side of a school busA recent crash in Gallitzin Township involving a school bus and a car resulted in the death of the car’s driver and injuries of varying degree to 13 other people.

The accident occurred when 17-year-old Joseph Stoy’s car crossed across the center line, veered into the oncoming lane and crashed against the driver’s side of a school bus, according to the Tribune-Democrat.

Stoy’s injuries proved fatal, and he died in the operating room of the Altoona Regional Trauma Center, the news provider reports. Police said Stoy was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Two other passengers in Stoy’s vehicle were injured, along with 10 children that were on the school bus at the time of the crash and the school bus driver. The injured were taken to local hospitals and nine of the students have since been released after being treated for minor injuries, according to the news source.

Total traffic fatalities have fallen in Pennsylvania in the period of 2005 to 2009, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
