Yamaha Rhino Injuries

Find out if you have a Yamaha Rhino rollover injury legal claim

Yamaha Rhino recreational utility vehicles are designed with a narrow track width and a high center of gravity as a means to fit the vehicle in the bed of a pick-up truck. By creating this convenience for consumers, the vehicle’s stability during operation has been greatly compromised and the potential for a rollover accident increased even at low speeds.  As originally designed, the Rhino lacked doors and other safety mechanisms that would ensure that the arms and legs of an occupant did not inadvertently protrude from the passenger compartment of the vehicle during a rollover.

Yamaha Rhino recreational utility vehicles were first introduced in 2003. In 2006, Yamaha sent letters to Rhino owners enclosing new warning labels that described the risk of rollovers.  In August 2007, Yamaha sent out a second correspondence to Rhino owners offering to install doors and additional passenger handholds for free on all existing Rhinos.  Finally, on March 31, 2009, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced that Yamaha agreed to suspend the sale of Rhino 450, 660 and 700 models and to implement a free repair program to address the safety issues with these Rhino models.  The CPSC warned consumers to stop using these Rhinos until the safety repairs could be made by a Yamaha dealer.  For more information on these free safety revisions, please contact a Yamaha dealer.
