Toyota Acceleration

Find out if you have a Toyota Sudden Unintended Acceleration Personal Injury legal claim

Select models of Toyota and Lexus vehicles have been identified with a gas pedal defect that causes the vehicle to accelerate suddenly when the pedal becomes lodged under the floor mat. In addition to the floor mat problem, a report issued by Quality Control Systems Inc. suggests that Toyota vehicles with electronic throttle control systems (ETCS-i) generated a higher number of complaints for sudden acceleration than the same models without the ETCS-i system.   The sudden acceleration from either of these defects may result in the driver being unable to slow the vehicle for a period of time.

As of February 17, 2010, 37 fatalities from 29 accidents linked to Toyota sudden acceleration have been reported to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration. The number of complaints is expected to rise as more accidents are linked to the sudden acceleration defect.

In January 2010, over two-thirds of Toyota’s lines of vehicles were recalled because of gas pedal and floor mat flaws, the largest ever recall from the company.  If you own one of the following vehicles affected by the recall, please contact your local dealership for recall and repair information.
