$162,000 Awarded in Car Accident Lawsuit Against Yellow Cab

$162,000 awarded in lawsuit against cab company and driverThe victim of a car accident in Dallas, Texas, has recently been awarded $162,000 by a jury in her car accident lawsuit against Yellow Cab and the driver operating the vehicle that allegedly caused the crash.

The car accident occurred when a Yellow Cab hit the 28-year-old plaintiff’s vehicle from behind, allegedly causing the plaintiff to sustain neck injuries, according to a press release. The press release also claims that prior to sustaining these neck injuries, the plaintiff had been employed in a horse rescue project. The injuries have allegedly made it impossible for her to continue this vocation, due to chronic pain and fear of re-injury, the press release reports.

The jury awarded the plaintiff $162,000 for past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain and suffering and impairment, according to the press release.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the injury rate is higher for females involved in car accidents than for males involved in car accidents for most age groups, whereas the fatality rate was higher for males than for females in every age group.
